Join the action at the auction! As always, Pete DeVries and Sleepy Avant will call the auction and take the bids. Bidder registration is free and you may register any time during the quilt show, even during the auction. You may preview the auction quilts in the Harvest building on Saturday. Come bid on an original piece of Americana.

Thursday Thimbles Readying Quilt for the Auction

A PVQA small quilt group Thursday Thimbles, also known as Thimblinas, is hard at work on their lap quilt which will be donated to the 2009 Quilt Show Auction to be held on Sunday, February 22, 2009. The quilt, as yet unnamed, was designed using three sizes of "square in a square" which were then intermixed like a puzzle. The predominant color is various shades of scrappy blues, highlighted with pale peaches. Thursday Thimbles and its members are frequent quilt contributors to the annual auction.

This small quilt group, one of the oldest in the guild at 25+ years, meets monthly ... on a Thursday, of course. Members include: Ardis Normanly, Carol McCrea, Denie McDonnell, Jan Sturtevant, Janet Herrera, Nora Wilson, Shauna Moulton, Vicki Johnson, Rachel Clark, Claudia Sammis, Bonnie Minardi, Suzanne Baumhefner, and Frances Cunningham.

General Auction Information

Auction will accept the following items:

  • Doll quilts, lap quilts, baby quilts, bed quilts, wall hangings, vintage quilt tops, vintage blocks, vintage quilts, and some clothing items.

    How to submit an entry form for the auction:

  • Entry forms are available at monthly PVQA meetings, or from Mary Fran Archer (see contact information below).
  • Complete one form for each auction item. Attach a photo. Mail form to Mary Fran Archer, 330 Ocean View Ave., Santa Cruz, Ca. 95062 or bring to monthly PVQA meeting.
  • Deadline for submitting auction entries is Monday, January 26, 2009.

    • Number of auction quilt entries:

  • You may contribute as many 100% donation quilts as you like, either as an individual or as a group.
  • You may enter one quilt on consignment when you have entered one 100% donation quilt as an individual or part of a group.
  • The maximum total entries for this year is 60. Admission will be on a first come first served basis until the number 60 is reached. Quilts may be placed on a waiting list should any entries be removed before the auction.
  • There will be room for additional consignment items from any individual if there are fewer than 60 quilts entered. A waiting list will be developed for “second consignments”.

    • Auction Quilt Turn-ins:

  • You may turn in auction items to Mary Fran Archer at the January and February PVQA meetings. The deadline to turn in items is the Friday before the show 10:00 a.m. to noon at the fairgrounds.
  • Sleeves are not required on auction quilts but we will love you forever if you provide one.
