Introduction to Machine Quilting (Beginner Level)
Quilt using your home sewing machine. From pinning the layers to quilting loops and curves, straight lines, free motion designs, a feathered wreath, stipple, plus much, much more. This is a beginning class and students will learn the art of heirloom machine quilting. Schumacher will be the featured speaker at the September 8, 2008 PVQA meeting.

Dyeing for Quilters
Bring lots of white cotton broadcloth and go home with a new collection of gorgeous hand-dyed fat quarters and half-yards to give your quilts that subtle hand-dyed look. Master several dyeing techniques including immersion with resist, dye painting, and “parfait dyeing” while learning the basics of using fiber-reactive (very colorfast) dyes. Includes all materials except fabric. If your stash contains hand-dyed fabrics, bring them and create the “batik” look.

Easy Fabric Printing
Using fabric paint which is water-based and nontoxic, we will explore the many simple methods for printing fabric. Try your hand printing with the following: scrunching, plastic wrap, stenciling, block, vegetables, leaves, found objects, fabric crayons, and mono-printing. Bring fat quarters and comes play with these exciting techniques to make your own unique fabric. Materials fee: $7.00 cash provides you with an individual "goodie bag" plus the use of Vicki’s paints, stencils, etc. Any level of experience. Santa Cruz fiber artist, Johnson, will be the featured speaker at the January 12, 2009 PVQA meeting.
