Trunk Show
*May be changed to a virtual meeting – we will keep you posted!
We’re pleased to announce that our own Meri Vahl, internationally famous quilt teacher and lecturer, will present a trunk show at our regular PVQA General Meeting in June.
A New York native, Meri earned a BA in Fine Art from UC Berkeley in 1967, and then went on to work as a graphic artist in San Francisco before moving to Santa Cruz in 1970. In 1998, She discovered that the quilting world had branched out in exciting new directions, especially art quilts – at which point her “painting genes” kicked into overdrive and she’s never looked back!
Her quilt shown at the left is titled “Flower Market at Chichicastenango, Guatemala” and was awarded ‘Best Quilt in the World’ at the Mancuso Brothers’ 2009 Best Quilts of the World, and in 2010 it also won ‘Best Art Quilt: People, Portraits and Figures’ at the Houston IQA Quilt contest.
