2021 Online Quilting Bees

Saturday May 15th

10 am – 2 pm

Special Event – Studio Tours: 11:30 am – 1:00 pm

Quilting Bee

You are welcome to come for the day or just an hour to sew and chat with friends. Mark your calendars. A few days before the event, we’ll send out an invitation to the Zoom Quilting Bee. As an added bonus, a short program is planned for each Saturday’s Quilting Bee.

Saturday, May 15, we are going on a virtual tour of several members’ quilting studios. We’ll start about 11:30 and spend the next hour or so seeing their work and where they work. It should be fun. We’ll be visiting the studios of Coni Hendry, Mac, Sara Roche, Pam Rocco and Jill Walker, and maybe a couple more. Hope to see on Saturday, May 15th. . . invite a friend to come. . . . we have the room.

Thanksgiving 2020

A PVQA Thanksgiving Zoom Drop In

Thursday, November 26

11:00 am – 1:00 pm

Come join your guild friends in a Drop In Zoom group Thanksgiving Day anytime between 11 am and 1 pm.

Thanksgiving 2020 is coming up… What a year we’ve been having. This year is unlike any we’ve had before. Many of us are not able to share the holiday with family and friends because of the virus.

Let’s chat, drink (your beverage of choice), and share at least part of the day. In a year with lots of challenges, let’s try and celebrate things we’re grateful for. I for one am grateful for our guild community. Meeting on Zoom is helping make days pass more enjoyably. I’m also learning new techniques, getting quilts designed and completed.

Hope to see you on Zoom. If you want to Thanksgiving Zoom, send Nancy Gonzlaes-Caro an email for the Zoom information at smallquiltgroups@pvqa.org. Information will also go out in the newsletter and an eBlast next week.

Trunk Show

*May be changed to a virtual meeting – we will keep you posted!

We’re pleased to announce that our own Meri Vahl, internationally famous quilt teacher and lecturer, will present a trunk show at our regular PVQA General Meeting in June.

A New York native, Meri earned a BA in Fine Art from UC Berkeley in 1967, and then went on to work as a graphic artist in San Francisco before moving to Santa Cruz in 1970. In 1998, She discovered that the quilting world had branched out in exciting new directions, especially art quilts – at which point her “painting genes” kicked into overdrive and she’s never looked back!Flower Market at Chichicastenango, Guatemala

Her quilt shown at the left is titled  “Flower Market at Chichicastenango, Guatemala” and was awarded ‘Best Quilt in the World’ at the Mancuso Brothers’ 2009 Best Quilts of the World, and in 2010 it also won ‘Best Art Quilt: People, Portraits and Figures’ at the Houston IQA Quilt contest.
