QUILLOW

Cost: $65.00

Modern Handmade
5403 Scotts Valley Dr.
Scotts Valley, CAQuillow

A Quillow is a quilt folded into itself lengthwise and then tucked into a pocket to become a pillow when not in use as a throw.  The pouch is lined (I like flannel for this to keep your toes toasty).  This is a simple quilt using yardage and we will learn some very simple machine quilting. Don’t say you can’t do machine quilting. I will show you how. Nothing fancy, just some straight lines.  Bring sewing machine and supplies; pin cushion, sharp scissors, #3 safety pins, extra bobbins, neutral thread or to match your fabric. You will need 3 yards of batting (I use 100% cotton) and 3 yards of two different prints in your favorite color(s). If you want a flannel lining, bring ¾ yards of flannel.  Otherwise, the above cotton yardage is enough for a matching pocket.  Or, you may bring a pieced top the size you want (throw) with backing and batting plus ¾ yds of flannel and fabric for pocket and ½ yd fabric for binding.

You can register for this class by calling Modern Handmade at 713-5912 or register online at Modern Handmade.

Call Susan at 831-335- 1302 for directions and any questions, or email her at wordsmith2004@hotmail.com.

Modern Handmade

Scotts Valley, CAQuilt As You Go

Come take this class and leave with a completed table runner including top, batting and batting.  All sandwiched and quilted at the same time.  A simple way to finish quilts quickly.  Bring sewing machine and supplies; pin cushion, sharp scissors, extra bobbins, neutral thread or to match your fabric. Bring 3 fat quarters of different light fabrics, prints or solids and 3 fat quarters of different dark fabric, prints or solids, one ¼ yard of solid to make the block ‘pop’, plus ½ yard coordinating fabric for the binding. Bring 1 yard of your favorite batting. I use all cotton. A jelly roll of fabric will also work. You will have left over fabric, for sure!
