Come take the class and leave with a small quilted item you will create, using the materials supplied in class. You may bring an old project you have been meaning to finish, and I will help you accomplish that. In this class, you will learn to hand quilt and you will be given information on all aspects of hand quilting including: needles, threads, batting, seaming, etc. We will also cover the hand quilting stitch, quilt patterns, quilt labels, templates, marking tools, notions and hints to help you become an expert hand quilter.

Fifth Session of Quilting 101 with Claire Witherspoon at her home in Soquel. This class is designed as a general introduction for beginners and review for any quilter who wants to improve their piecing skills.

Each month the class will focus on some block designs that explore particular piecing techniques, The final goal being enough blocks to make a Sampler Quilt!  October’s class will explore 3 ways to make Flying Geese and several blocks in which they can be used.  Future classes dates TBA.  Classes are being offered on an indiviual basis at $25.00 / class and lunch is included!  Space is limited and available on a first come first served basis, so sign-up early!

If you made the apron in Beginning Sewing, here is the next step.  All beginning sewers are welcome as well as more experienced.  Bring sewing machine and supplies; pin cushion, sharp scissors, extra bobbins, neutral thread or to match your fabric and 2 yards of light weight cotton. Wash and press your fabrics before class. Also bring a Tee shirt that fits you well, not tight, boxy and comfy. Leave class with a completed kimono for you or for a gift.

The second class is Saturday, 9/22 from 11 am to 5pm when we will piece a quilt top! Great for beginners, fun for more advanced.
