2022 July Featherweight-Twice Nice Special Event

Featherweight Maintenance Class

Dave Trebotich from Twice Nice

Bring your Featherweight and join Dave Trebotich from the “Twice Nice Sewing Machine Restoration” as he walks you through problem-solving and how to service and maintain your Featherweight Sewing Machine. In this 6-hour, hands-on class you will learn to inspect, adjust, and lubricate your machine. You will learn how to handle thread jams and about all those amazing parts and attachments. 

Workshop will be held at the Aptos Knoll Mobile Home Park, 600 Trout Gulch Rd, Aptos, CA 95003

2022 June Meri Henriques Vahl Workshop

Layered Landscape Fabric Collage

(The June 26 workshop is full.)

Open up a whole new world of artistic possibilities with this playful and fun technique. No fusing or sewing machines necessary for this one day class. Just bring your favorite photograph for inspiration, scissors, lots of straight or safety pins, fine BLACK tulle (other colors as desired), and fabric to make your vision come true. In addition, you can bring embellishments, such as yarn, lace, feathers, etc.(see the supply list).  You’ll also need a piece of backing fabric and batting of the same size – and you’re all set to go! In addition, I’ll demonstrate how I create people for my quilts, and I’ll show you an easy way to add borders so you can make an art quilt of any size. Come play with me!

The cost for the workshop is $35 for PVQA members, $55 for non-members. 

Workshop will be held at Temple Beth El.

Liberated slash ‘n sew strips come together in a traditional drunkard’s path block to form the gorgeous, strippy, 22 inch diameter Comsos circle. This workshop is perfect for beginning or advanced students to learn fun, easy and wonky strip piecing while conquering their fear of sewing curves with Linda’s easy tips and tricks.

Rachel Derstine Workshop – November 2021

Artful Couching

November 13 – 10am to 1pm

Rachel Derstine

Learn the art of couching with yarns to create texture, flow and extra pizzazz. We will focus exclusively on mastering couching techniques. Students will bring a striped batik or gradient fabric or purchase the kit to make this 18ʺ x 45ʺ table runner size quilt. This class will show you the many ways to use couching for definition and sparkle, by incorporating a variety of cording, yarns and metallic threads in your work. Kit purchase optional – $30. PDF supply list will be provided prior to class.

The purpose of the Pajaro Valley Quilt Association (PVQA) is to encourage the art of quilt making which includes acquiring and sharing knowledge of quilt designs and quilt techniques; preserving and continuing the tradition, culture and history of quilting; encouraging quilt making and collecting, sponsoring and supporting quilting activities, including outreach programs, and providing education meetings.
