About the event
In this fun and easy workshop, participants learn how to create an appliquéd and quilted, 36" by 36", protest sign or wall hanging with words of their choosing. Instruction includes discussion of phrase and alphabet choices, how to estimate layout, use of and tracing onto Heat n Bond Light (supplied by Cate), cutting out, the use of reversed alphabets supplied by Cate, then cutting out the message, ironing onto the top fabric, and then sewing on by straight stitch either separately on the front, or quilting simultaneously the front, batting and back. Some won't complete the appliqué-quilting but it’s' easy to transport and finish at home.
Participants will return home with a partially complete protest sign or wall-hanging. Binding and sleeves to be done later. They’ll also take home written directions for what was taught and a reversed, applique alphabet Cate created to use on further projects.
