Quilt It Forward
Santa Cruz County

The purpose of QIFSCC is to engage quilters in creating and donating quilts and pillowcases to support Santa Cruz County youth in foster care, at their adoption, and as they age out of foster care at age 21. Pillowcases are provided to Camp Opportunity, a summer camp for foster youth.
For over a decade hundreds of quilts and pillowcases have been made for this purpose. In December 2025, Quilt It Forward Santa Cruz County (QIFSCC) became an official PVQA Outreach Group.
Meetings are scheduled quarterly at Michaels on 3555 Clares Street off of 41 st Ave., alternating on Wednesday evenings 6 pm and Saturday mornings 11 am to build community. Quilters pick up and share quilt and pillowcase supplies, turn in completed ones and learn more about foster care. Creating is done on the quilter’s own time, pace and style. You make what you want and do not have to complete the whole quilt. We can provide support, backing, batting, labels, and long arm services.

Foster youth have little to call their own. Imagine the joy of picking out your own quilt or pillowcase and the warmth, happiness and security that brings to a child. Because the youth demographics constantly change, please avoid baby themes, sports teams, holiday fabrics. Recommended Sizes: Youth 50 x 60 min., Teen 60 x 75 min., Aging Out of Foster Care 21 year old 75 x 90 min.
Please join us in sharing your talents and compassion for our children and youth. We are open to anyone with our shared passion.
