Membership Information Membership in PVQA is open to anyone interested in quilts or quilting. Our Membership year runs from June 1 – May 31. We are a fun group with talents ranging from absolute beginners to award winning professionals. Meet creative people and expand your circle of friends. Membership in our guild comes with many advantages: professional guest speakers at monthly meetings; reduced price workshops given by well known quilting teachers; small interest groups that meet in person or via Zoom; opportunities to quilt with others; Block of the Month and much more. PVQA is an all-volunteer organization. As with all organizations, PVQA can use all the volunteer help it can get. It takes many volunteers to set up and staff our annual Quilt Show. Quilters for Hospice We are a PVQA outreach group dedicated to the support of Hospice of Santa Cruz County , a non-profit agency providing compassionate end-of-life care and grief support services in our community. Mission The purpose and annual goal of our group is to provide: Quilts for Camp Erin, a grief support camp for children and teens age 6-17 Lap quilts for end-of-life patients A fundraising quilt (raffle or auction) to support HSCC’s community programs Quilts Camp Erin is held each year in early June. Since the demographics are not known until shortly before the camp, cheerful, multi-colored quilts that are of simple design and no particular theme are easiest to distribute. Preferred size is approximately 50”-55” wide x 65”-70” long. Lap quilts for adult Hospice patients may be any design and color, approximately 40” x 50”. We have fabric and kits available, and can provide batting, backing and long-arm quilting. Meetings: Our group meets the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month, from 10:00 until 3:00. Meeting dates and locations are subject to change. Please join our email list to be informed of our activities and RSVP if you plan to attend. Meetings on the 2nd Thursday are held at Aptos Knoll Mobilehome Park Meetings on the 4th Thursday are held at the Congregational Church of Soquel . Needs: We welcome contributions of completed quilts, fabric and supplies, especially fabric for backing. Backing requirements are 3 ½ yards for Camp Erin quilts and 2 ½ yards for lap quilts. Very Special Person Award Nomination Form PVQA has many outstanding members who—often behind the scenes—do a lot to benefit our organization. Since 1985, the Very Special Person (VSP) award has given special recognition to PVQA members for their notable services to the association. Nominations are to be submitted via this form. Any active member for at least two years is eligible to win the award, except members of the selection committee (President, Vice Presidents, Secretary, and the two Members-at-Large), the current quilt show chairperson(s), and past VSP recipients. The award will be tailored to the recipient, with the cost determined by the board (generally $100). The award presentation will be made at the December meeting. Join Us As a Vendor At Our Annual Quilt Show! The Pajaro Valley Quilt Association Annual Quilt Show is a long-standing tradition and the primary fundraising event for our association. Held at the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds, this two-day celebration draws nearly 2,000 guests and features 300+ quilts, wearables, and quilted items—a stunning showcase of creativity and craftsmanship. This is more than just a quilt show—it’s an opportunity to connect with a vibrant, engaged community of quilters, artists, and curious newcomers. Through displays, demonstrations, raffles, and community involvement, we aim to promote quilting as both an art and a craft. Vendor Opportunities We welcome a wide variety of vendors whose products align with the interests and tastes of our guests. Ideal offerings include: Quilts, fabrics, sewing supplies, kits, tools, patterns Handmade items like jewelry, purses, baskets, and clothing Unique crafts and artisan goods Edible products such as confections, jarred treats, and specialty oils We're also open to creative new products that would excite and inspire our guests! Vendor booth rental applications are accepted on a first come, first served basis until all spaces are filled, with one caveat--The Quilt Show executive committee has discretion in choosing a balance of services by vendors to maximize the success of the vendors and the enjoyment of the attendees.
