- Donations to PVQA | PVQAQuiltAssnLIVE
Support PVQA With Your Donation What Do We Do? The 300 members of the Pajaro Valley Quilt Association (“PVQA” for short) share a love for making attractive and useful fabric art. Our guild has been an active and progressive voice in the art of quiltmaking for more than four decades. We deliver quilts to many local charities, including CASA, Jacob’s Heart, Salvation Army, Pajaro Valley Shelter, the veteran’s hospital, and Hospice of Santa Cruz County. Twelve thousand cloth masks sewn during the COVID-19 pandemic went to health care and essential workers and vulnerable populations. Nearly 2,000 quilts were given to survivors of the CZU lightning fires. Recently more than 100 quilts were made for young women attending a STEM camp at UC Santa Cruz. Quilts Ready for STEM Camp Attendees Come to the Santa Cruz County Fair to see our members demonstrating quilting. Attend our quilt show each February where we showcase our work and educate people about the art. Monthly meetings often feature well-known speakers who discuss various techniques, and usually offer workshops to teach new skills. How Can You Help? Financial donations and donations of quilting-related goods can help us continue our mission of encouraging the art of quiltmaking while supporting our community. You can donate to our general operations or direct your donation to one of our community outreach groups. PVQA is a 501(c)3 charity organization. - BargainGarden/PVQAQuiltAssn
Bargain Garden The PVQA Bargain Garden is part of a long tradition for quilt guilds across the United States. Members of the guild, and members of the community, donate quilting, sewing and craft fabric/supplies to the guild. Sometimes folks have cleaned out their sewing rooms. Sometimes heirs want to find a good home for quilting and sewing supplies that won’t be used by the family. PVQA sells these items to benefit the guild. Bargain Garden also provides an opportunity for quilters on a fixed income to find low-cost, quality fabric and supplies. Bargain Garden also provides some fabric to the other Community Outreach groups. The biggest Bargain Garden sale is at the annual Pajaro Valley Quilt Association Quilt Show in February of each year. Some items are sold at monthly meetings. Other items may be sold on eBay, or similar avenues. PVQA is a 501(c)3 charity! Your donation may be tax deductible. Sorry, donations of magazines cannot be accepted; they have become difficult to sell or recycle. Binders of magazine pages are also not accepted. Please be considerate of our volunteers. Do not donate items with open/loose rotary or razor blades, unfinished garments with pins still in, loose pins and needles, and other unprotected sharp objects. Please pack those items in a way that is safe for volunteers. Have a question? Want to make a donation?
