African Improv

This is the perfect introduction to African print fabrics and to quilters who love the vibrant colors and large-scale prints of these beautifully designed fabrics but are not quite sure how to put them together into a quilt.

Time & Location

Apr 18, 2026, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Temple Beth El, 3055 Porter Gulch Rd, Aptos, CA 95003, USA

About the event

Using an improvisational, strip-piecing method, students will create a crazy-pieced center block and then build larger strips around it to make wonky log cabin blocks. This is a technique-based workshop, but once you have your stash of African fabrics in hand, and the basic principles of the method, you will be able to complete your own finished piece - from a wall hanging to an entire quilt top.
